Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University selects Eloquent for Mobile-Friendly access into Archives

er-logo-1970sThe public can use a mobile device or any browser to explore the rich history of aviation as recorded and digitized by this university that grew out of a company co-founded in 1925 by a barn-storming pilot. Today it is a world leader in aviation and aeronautical higher education.

Vancouver, BC – July 19, 2016. Eloquent Systems Inc is pleased to announce that Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has upgraded their Eloquent Archives™ software to the new version which supports mobile devices as well as all popular browsers. With the new software their archival holdings become an integral part of their university website.

The historical records of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s three campuses-Daytona Beach, Fla., Prescott, Ariz., and the Worldwide Campus-plus all of its predecessor bodies can be found in the school’s official repository, the University Archives.

The holdings document the history of Embry-Riddle from its origins in 1926 to the present. These archival collections include corporate records, faculty and staff papers, alumni memorabilia, photographs, audio recordings, video media, and many artifacts, including paintings, awards, and aviation paraphernalia.

Embry-Riddle purchased an Eloquent Archives license in 2003 to run on their own server. They also got a copy of the WebGENCAT Toolkit so they were able to make further enhancements and changes to the application. By installing the latest version of the WebGENCAT Platform each year they remained up to date with the latest Web technology without disrupting the application. To take advantage of the mobile public interface introduced in the 2016 version of the Platform they launched a project in conjunction with Eloquent and the university webmaster to personalize the interface and to integrate it with their university website.

We are very excited to help this great university make the rich history of aviation found in their archives available to the world,” said Merv Richter, President of Eloquent Systems Inc, who trained as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force while working his way through university.

The university alumni and researchers around the world can now use mobile devices or any popular browser to find photographs, oral histories, and textual documents in the University Archives.  There is a seamless transition between the archives and the university website.
