During my years leading Eloquent Systems (now a Lucidea company) and as a provider of collections management software for heritage institutions, I often spoke with my archives clients about the merits of buying purpose-built software rather than relying on a system built in-house—or going the open-source route. You can use free software to test your database, or to test the next software you may consider using. You could click to the SSL Server Test from Qualys SSL Labs. You will be prompted for the domain name of the database you wish to test. For example, you can test the security level of the Independence Seaport Museum database by entering https://gencat1.eloquent-systems.com/ for its domain name in the server test.
The major enhancements in the Eloquent Version 8.1 product line are enjoyed by all applications – archives, library, museum, and records.
